Join a growing community of parents committed to delaying smartphones and social media until high school. By taking the pact, you team up with other families so no one feels pressured to give their child a smartphone early. When kids know their classmates are waiting too, peer pressure fades.
The Pledge
I'm choosing to delay giving my child a smartphone and access to social media until (at least) high school - for their wellbeing and to help protect childhood for all our kids.
You can still sign the pact if at some point you want to give your child a basic phone or smartwatch for calls and texts only (internet-free)—these options avoid most of the distractions and risks of a full smartphone.
How It Works
- Sign the Pact: Enter your name, email, child’s school, and year group. You’ll receive a once-only follow-up email acknowledging your signature and suggesting ways to get involved and connect with other families.
- Track Participation: See how many families in your school and year group have signed via live counters on the website.
- Privacy Guaranteed: The pact is anonymous. Your name will never be shared publicly, and your email is used only for the single follow-up email, unless you opt in for additional updates, newsletters, or information.
- Flexible Commitment: The pledge focuses on delaying smartphones, while allowing for basic phones or smartwatches for calls and texts if needed.
Why It Matters
The more families who sign the Parent Pact, the faster we can shift social and cultural norms around smartphone use in children. By holding off, we give kids the chance to enjoy more play, friendships, and real-world experiences—without an addictive screen in their pockets.
The data collected will also help demonstrate to communities and government that parents across Slovenia want action to protect children from smartphone and social media harm.
Together, we’re building a new kind of normal-one that puts childhood first. Your choice-and your voice-is powerful!e
